Taylor Swift, full Taylor Alison Swift. American singer/songwriter who's had great success with the tales that she shares about her childhood heartbreak. Swift's love for music started when she was a young age. From musicals for kids to singing in front of thousands of people, Swift made rapid progress. At the age of 11, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner before a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match and in the next year, she picked up the guitar and started writing songs. Swift was a singer who took influences from the music of Shania Twain as well as her band the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks within the realm of country music, composed her original songs to reflect her feelings of alienation. Swift moved from Pennsylvania with her parents to Hendersonville, Tennessee when she reached 13 and decided to spend her time in contacting country labels.
